some things to see & do

Although we might like to think so, Somerset and the South West is not just about the birds; there are indeed other things to see and do.

The City of Wells with its stunning Cathedral and moated Bishop’s Palace is a delightful place to visit.

Even being the smallest city in Britain, its wide range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants along with regular markets, makes an afternoon wandering round Wells a joy.

Close by is Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Kilver Court Gardens and the somewhat ‘funky’ town of Glastonbury. Glastonbury always has a fun atmosphere with its psychedelic shops and ruined Abbey all set in the shadow of its famous Tor – one of the most recognisable landmarks in the South West of England.

Further afield is the beautiful Georgian city of Bath; Bristol with its industrial heritage and the county town of Taunton. Scattered throughout Somerset are many National Trust and English Heritage properties.

Why not extended your visit to the South West before or after your birdwatching break?
